Cosmetic cotton pads are made of loose, unbonded staple fibers. When saturated with alcohol or dehydrator, the friction against the nail plate tears these fibers away. They become trapped invisibly in the micro-crevices created by your nail buffer.
When you apply your base coat, these cotton fibers act as tiny wicks, drawing moisture and sebum up from the skin and breaking the chemical bond. Our hydro-entangled spunlace wipes use continuous synthetic filament meshes that physically cannot shed, guaranteeing a sterile clinical surface.
Metal pushers have a Rockwell hardness far greater than natural human keratin. In inexperienced hands, metal gouges deep transverse ridges into the dorsal nail plate, causing permanent matrix damage and thermal sensitivity.
Natural orange wood possesses the exact grain density required to gently lift the pterygium without scratching the nail plate. Furthermore, orange wood is porous enough to hold a single drop of dehydrator or cuticle remover, turning the tip into an accurate cleaning chisel.
Every pack is collated, sealed, and stamped in clean, dust-controlled conditions at our 130 North Tryon Street studio. We inspect buffer grit consistency with micrometers to ensure the 180 side does not contain rogue 80-grit abrasive chunks that gouge natural plates.
Our practitioner has verified nail preparation hygiene in daily salon service since 2022. We provide dated invoices and manufacturer quality declarations for every lot shipped.
Natural Plate Preparation Protocol Using This Pack
Follow these professional steps prior to any base coat application to ensure a full fourteen-day wear cycle without corner lifting.
Eponychium Pushback & Pterygium Clearance
Hold the orange wood stick at a 45-degree angle. Gently push the proximal cuticle fold back. Use the beveled edge to scrape away dry invisible pterygium skin cells clinging to the base of the nail.
Gentle Surface Buffing with 180 Grit
Using the 180-grit side of the foam buffer, make three single-direction passes from cuticle to free edge. Only remove natural sebum shine; never thin the natural plate.
Dehydration Scrub with Spunlace Wipe
Saturate one spunlace wipe in 99% isopropyl alcohol or specialist dehydrator. Wrap the wipe around your index finger and scrub the lateral nail folds and free edge thoroughly until the plate turns chalky white.
No-Touch Inspection Before Base Coat
Verify that no airborne dust or finger oil has touched the prepared surface. Proceed immediately to apply your adhesive base coat within sixty seconds of dehydration.
